Product Description:
BETAFOAM™ is a family of two component water blown rigid polyurethane foams used for NVH, stiffness, and energy management applications. The rapid mixing of both components under high shear conditions produces foam. The components were formulated for optimal reaction speed and high volume expansion. BETAFOAM products adhere to primed metal surfaces. The products were engineered to provide barrier protection against airborne noise. Several BETAFOAM products also provide local reinforcement to body structures for crash and energy management.
Applications:
BETAFOAM products are used wherever cavity sealing or stiffening is required. They have been used successfully to optimize vehicle acoustical, stiffness, and energy management performance.
Application Methods:
BETAFOAM is pumped from bulk containers into meter mix equipment. The proper mix ratio is in turn dispensed manually or robotically through an application gun.
Benefits:
Acoustical, structural, and energy management performance enhancement
Cost and mass-efficient solution compared to traditional approaches (steel, expandable/pumpable epoxy, expandable baffles, drop-in parts)
Potential to downgage/eliminate BIW content
Design flexibility via reproducible cavity filling
-
Foam will fill any shape/contour
-
Doesn't require re-design after sheet metal changes
New low-MDI formulations may relieve ventilation requirements and can be more easily facilitated in assembly plant environments
