Dow Automotive, a major technology and solutions provider to the global auto industry, will provide, for the second year in a row, its advanced diesel particulate filters (DPF) for the 2006 ALMS championship winning Audi R10 TDI. This diesel powered sports car will race the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June. The team will make their 2007 season debut on Saturday, March 17 in the 55^th annual 12 Hours of Sebring, the premier endurance race in America.

With 650 hp, the V12 TDI is one of the world’s most powerful diesel engines. The Audi R10 TDI proves how clean diesel engines can be, and Dow Automotive’s DPF technology plays a critical role in achieving this. Lightweight, compact and contributing to lower overall vehicle mass, Dow Automotive’s DPF technology is designed to meet specific Audi performance requirements. For the 2007 season, the filters are even smaller and lighter than the previous year and they produce very low back pressure enabling optimum engine power, torque performance and fuel efficiency while dramatically reducing particulate emissions. These benefits are magnified under race conditions, when the DPFs perform at extremely high operating temperatures, mass flows and ramp rates.

As with all technology from Dow Automotive’s research laboratories, the diesel particulate filters were developed to satisfy a customer need -- meeting increasingly stringent emission regulations for both light- and heavy-duty diesel engines.
