IMPAXX™ energy absorbing foam from Dow Automotive is paving its way to becoming a major impact countermeasure in many  different automotive areas. For example, it is the preferred solution on the doors of the new SMART ForTwo and it is already used in nearly two million passenger cars worldwide. In addition to improved safety and weight reduction, IMPAXX foam also can reduce packing space by up to 40 percent, enabling greater freedom in the design process.

IMPAXX foam has also been specified  by North American race series NASCAR as the exclusive impact protection solution for their “Car of Tomorrow” where it is placed between the roll cage door bars and door panels for improved driver safety. While safety was the primary driver behind the development of the Car of Tomorrow, efficiency of use was another important factor in materials specifications.
