Dow Automotive offers OEMs in the body and paint shop area advanced products to address NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) issues without using bitumen pads. PSA Peugeot Citroën required improved NVH performance for the new Citroen Berlingo and Peugeot Partner models, and Dow Automotive proposed BETAPHON™, an extrudable vibration damping coating and BETAGUARD™ sealants for body, trim and paint shop to protect the passenger compartment from moisture, dirt, dust and fumes.  These sealing and damping products from Dow Automotive offer several benefits in the assembly process, e. g they can be sprayed robotically, enabling a reliable and repeatable application. In addition to such assembly benefits, these solutions also offer ergonomic benefits to manufacturing employees by eliminating bitumen pads.

PSA Peugeot Citroen decided to introduce these products for NVH damping on the new Citroen Berlingo and Peugeot Partner estate and commercial vehicles after an extensive testing and validation period. The choice of Dow Automotive's NVH solution was based on the products' performance, reliability, stability and aging behaviour properties. The Berlingo and Partner models no longer use bitumen-based NVH damping and may influence the development of future vehicles at PSA Peugeot Citroen.
